Types of cookies:

In order to outline the most common types of cookies to you in more detail, we have explained them below for your understanding:

1. Session cookies:

Session cookies allow users and the changes they have made to a website to be recognized. They allow the website to track the user's movements across individual pages so that information that has already been entered/saved does not have to be entered/saved again. An example of this are shopping baskets in webshops. The session cookie stores the selected products in the shopping basket so that it contains the correct items when paying at the checkout. Session cookies are deleted when you log out or automatically lose their validity as soon as the session has expired.

2. Permanent or persistent cookies:

A permanent or persistent cookie stores the user's information and settings on the user's computer for the period of time specified in the expiry date. This results in faster and more convenient access, as you do not have to adjust language settings again or re-enter login data, for example. The cookie is automatically deleted at the end of the storage period.

3. Third-party cookies:

Third-party cookies usually have no influence on the use of the site, as they do not originate from the operator of the website. For example, they serve the purpose of collecting information for advertising, custom content and web statistics and passing it on to the respective third-party provider.

4. Tracking cookies:

Tracking cookies are special text files that make it possible to collect data about the behavior of the Internet user. This is intended to provide information about the user's main interests, for example in order to be able to place precisely tailored advertising offers. Tracking cookies are therefore set not only when you log in, but automatically when you visit the website.

The aforementioned exemplary presentation of the most common forms of cookies is intended to provide you with a general overview of this form of collection. These explanations do not claim to be complete. As a result of technical IT development, it can be assumed that other types of cookies will be developed over time. Please check our Privacy Policy for current changes at regular intervals before using our website.

Google Maps:

Our website uses the Google Maps map service via an API (programming interface). The provider of the map service is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. To be able to use the functions of Google Maps it is necessary to store your IP address. According to Google, this information is usually transmitted to a server in the USA and stored there. We as website operator have no influence on this data transfer. The transfer of the information only starts when you click the "activate" button on the map. By activating the map, you consent to the transfer of the information. If you do not want to consent to the transfer of the information, do not click on the "activate" button on the map. This way you can continue to use the site without any transmission. Google Maps are used to ensure an appealing presentation of our online offers and to make the places indicated by us on the website easy to find. This represents a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR.

You can find more information on the handling of user data in Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en&gl=en

Tracking Tools:

Our website uses functions of various web analysis services from other companies such as Google Inc. In the following, we will explain in more detail which services are involved and which data are analyzed.

Use of Google Analytics with anonymization function

We use Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc.,1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 USA, hereinafter referred to as "Google". Google Analytics uses cookies that enable an analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookies about the use of our website (e.g. when, where and how often you access our website, incl. IP address) is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. In order to eliminate the personal reference to your IP address, it will be truncated immediately after its acquisition (e.g. by deleting the last 8 bits) and thus made anonymous. The IP anonymization also applies to all member states of the European Union or in other member states of the European Economic Area. For more information on IP anonymization and Google's use of data, please visit: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/2763052?hl=en

If you want to decide for yourself what information Google collects about the websites you visit, you can download a deactivation add-on for your web browser. However, this add-on does not prevent data from being transmitted to us or other web analysis services used by us. For more information about using and installing the add-on, please visit: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en

If you use a mobile device (e.g. smartphone) to access our website, please click on this link to prevent the transmission of the analysis data to Google Analytics. The above link is also possible as an alternative to the browser add-on already described, because it activates an “opt-out cookie”, which is only valid for this browser and this domain. If you delete the cookies in this browser, this cookie is also lost and you must click the link again.

Use of DoubleClick by Google

DoubleClick by Google is a service of Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”). DoubleClick by Google uses cookies to serve you ads that are relevant to you. Your browser is assigned a pseudonymous identification number (ID) to check which ads have been displayed in your browser and which ads have been clicked. The cookies do not contain any personal data. The use of DoubleClick cookies only enables Google and its partner websites to serve ads based on previous visits to our or other websites on the Internet. The information generated by the cookies is transmitted by Google to a server in the USA for analysis and stored there. Google complies with the privacy provisions of the U.S. Safe Harbor Agreement and is registered with the U.S. Department of Commerce's Safe Harbor Program. Under no circumstances will Google amalgamate your data with other data collected by Google.
By using our webpages, you agree to the processing of your data by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above. You can prevent the storage of cookies by setting your browser software accordingly. Further, you can avoid collection of the data created by the cookies and referring to your use of the webpages by Google as well as the processing of these data by Google if you download and install the browser plugin available at the following link under the item “Extension for DoubleClick deactivation”.

For more information about DoubleClick by Google and data protection, please visit: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads?hl=en

Use of MyFonts Counter

The PROvendis GmbH website uses MyFonts Counter, a web analysis service of MyFonts Inc., 500 Unicorn Park Drive, Woburn, MA 01801, USA. Based on the license terms, page view tracking is performed by counting the number of visits to the PROvendis GmbH website for statistical purposes and transmitting them to MyFonts. MyFonts collects anonymous data.

The data are passed on by activating Java script code in the user's browser. In order to prevent the execution of Java script code from MyFonts as a whole, the user can install a Java script blocker (e.g. www.noscript.net).

Further information on data protection and the cookies used can be found online at: http://www.myfonts.com/info/terms-and-conditions/#Privacy

Shariff solution by C't:

We use the so-called “Shariff solution” on our website for sharing our content. In this way we protect your privacy and prevent the unwanted transmission of information about your surfing behavior through social media plugins such as Facebook, Google or Twitter. Social media plugins are usually integrated into websites via so-called “iframes”. As a result, personal information such as the IP address or locally stored cookies are already transmitted to the social networks when the page is loaded. “Shariff” replaces the social media plugins with simple HTML links and a script retrieves how often a page has already been shared or tweeted. Instead of your IP address, only our server address is transmitted to the social networks. Your aforementioned personal data will be transmitted with your consent only if you actively click on a plugin. Further information on C't's “Shariff solution” can be found at: https://www.heise.de/ct/ausgabe/2014-26-Social-Media-Buttons-datenschutzkonform-nutzen-2463330.html

Social media plugins:

All information that we provide below about the different plugins is only valid on the condition that the Shariff solution of C't is not used. We use this solution on our website so that no information is transmitted to social networks without your consent.

Our website uses various social media plugins to expand and link our own Internet presence via social networks.

In the following, we will explain in more detail which plugins are involved.

Twitter

Our website contains functions (plugins) of the microblogging service Twitter, which are provided by Twitter Inc, 1355 Market Street, Suite 900, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA, hereinafter “Twitter”. The plugins can be recognized by one of the Twitter logos (white bird profile on a light blue background, or the other way around and the text suffix “tweet”). When you visit our website, a direct connection is established between your browser and the Twitter servers. So-called “log data” are sent to Twitter via this connection, even if you do not have a Twitter account. According to Twitter, this may be your IP address, browser type, operating system or information about the websites you visit. No connection is established between your web activity and your name, e-mail address, phone number or your Twitter username. Twitter deletes, obscures or aggregates your log data after a maximum of 30 days. According to Twitter, all information collected by Twitter is used to personalize, evaluate and improve its own services.

Information about the Twitter Privacy Policy can be found at: https://twitter.com/de/privacy

You can specify your personalization preferences at https://twitter.com/personalization

You can change your Twitter privacy settings in your account settings at https://twitter.com/login?redirect_after_login=%2Faccount%2Fsettings.

XING

The “XING share button” is used on this website. When you visit this website, your web browser connects for a short time to the servers of XING AG (“XING”), which provides the functions of the “XING share button” (including a visitor counter). XING does not store any personal data about you and your visit when you access the website. XING does not store IP addresses, nor does XING use cookies to monitor your visit behavior in relation to the “XING share button”. Please visit the following website for the latest version of the XING share button privacy policy and further information: https://dev.xing.com/plugins/share_button/privacy_policy

LinkedIn

This website incorporates plugins from the LinkedIn social network of LinkedIn Corporation, 2029 Stierlin Court, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“LinkedIn”). You can usually recognize these by the LinkedIn logo (the letters “in” in white on a blue background) and an attached text such as “share” or “teilen”. All information about the look of the LinkedIn plugins can be found at: https://developer.linkedin.com/plugins.

LinkedIn logs information from the moment you visit our site and establishes a connection between your browser and the LinkedIn servers. We as website operators have no influence on which data are transmitted to LinkedIn by the plugin and to what extent. According to LinkedIn, your logins, cookies, device information and IP addresses are used to identify you and track your usage. However, as soon as you click on one of the plugins, further information will be transmitted which you can link directly to your LinkedIn account (if you have such an account and are logged in). Further information on this can be found in LinkedIn’s privacy policy at: https://www.linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy
