The present invention generally applies to the fixation of hollow organs such as the stomach or the baldder to an outer structure, e.g. to the abdominal wall. The main field of application is in particular the percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) sonde.
PEG-sondes are applied by various techniques, especially by the so-called pull-through and the direct punctation (or push) technique. The latter is predominantly applied, when a stenosis of the upper gastrointestinal tract by a tumor prohibits oral access due to the consumption of space, but also due to the fact that the pull-through method is discussed in the literature to cause inoculation metastasis.
Application of PEG-sondes by the push technique conventionally requires the fixation of the stomach at the abdominal wall at three points (gastropexy). Subsequently, punctation is performed in the center of these three fixation points. By means of the present invention, the three fixation points are dispensable, since the stomach is laminary fixated by the anchor plate during expansion of the punctation channel.
The PEG-sondes consist of several wires of a shape memory alloy, which each end in a loop that is rectangular to the wire axis. After insertion in an upright position through a canula into the stomach, the alloys are shifted out and regain their loop-form due to the material properties. Therefore, fixation of hollow organs is feasable with only one punction with this technique.
