HairProtectColour - Innovative hair conditioning formula with multifunctional lignin particles
Ref.-No. 7225
Keywords: Photoprotective effect, Temporary hair coloring, Color Modification Hair, Sebum absorption, UV filter reinforcement, Nourishing hair formulation, Reversible hair coloring
Scientists at the Hochschule Niederrhein have invented an innovative new technology. A new hair conditioning formula uses lignin particles as a central component to produce a synergistic effect including sun protection boosting, conditioning effect, and temporary coloration. Lignin, a naturally occurring biopolymer, has structural properties that make it antioxidative, antimicrobial, and highly effective in enhancing absorption of UV radiation and excess sebum.
Essential formula characteristics:
Photoprotective effect: Lignin particles enhance the effect of UV filters, reducing UV-induced damage to hair structure.
Conditioning function: The formula enhances hair structure, producing a shine and a mechanical load to hair fibers less than that from hair chalk or hair mascara.
Temporary color modification: The combination of lignin particles and suitable dye pigments allows reversible color changes.
Sebum absorption: Lignin particles function as absorbing components for excess lipids, giving hair a clean, fresh appearance.
Competitive Advantages
- Temporary color change
- Sun protection booster
- Conditioning effect
Commercial Opportunities
The formula combines lignin, color pigments, carrier materials, and, as necessary, additives and perfume, thus fulfilling the criteria for clean beauty concepts that aim to incorporate natural, environmentally friendly ingredients. The application can be flexibly designed, taking the form of powder, emulsion, or spray, for instance, for various applications.
An essential advantage of this technology is that it provides a much more pleasant hair feeling than that of conventional hair chalk and hair mascara. The formula ensures a smooth, natural texture. It is also very well suited to temporary root dying, making it a practical solution for quick dying corrections. This also opens up a variety of possible hair styling uses: The formula could be used as a test application for a new hair color preliminary to permanent coloration, for instance.
Current Status
Initial laboratory-standard tests have been performed with satisfactory results. The invention has been registered with the German Patent and Trade Mark Office, and other subsequent international applications can be made in the priority year. We are offering interested companies the opportunity to license and refine this technology in collaboration with the Hochschule Niederrhein. The technology can also be researched as part of a project in which interested companies can participate.
